5 Different CV styles #1: The Starting-Out CV
We've reviewed over 10,000 CV's while running thecallsheet.co.uk since 2011. Resumes from Oscar winners to runners. While it’s good to have variety, some are definitely better than others.
Here are 5 types of CV’s we commonly see and some key differences depending on what you do, your level of experience and the type of productions you work on. We’re not saying any one of these 5 are better than the other, each has a unique effect and are best deployed for different stages of a career.
The Starting-Out CV (SAMPLE)

- Name, role, location and contact details prominent.
- Details of most recent relevant training.
- Driving details prominent (Driving is very important, you need to get yourself to locations)
- Very clear credits; laid out in reverse chronology (most recent at the top)
- Refer to of Head of Department and the role you undertook on the job.
- A brief indication of your other employment/education
- References
- Contact details again at the bottom
- If you are linking to a website, make sure the link works
- Save as FirstnameSurnameMonthYearCV.PDF so that it can be easily found on a hard drive/email by the recipient
