Snow White and the Huntsman
Loz Schaivo, what was your role on Snow White and the Huntsman?
My role on SWATH was as hairdresser on the main team. I looked after Sam Claflin who plays Prince Charming. I also looked after Toby Jones - who was one of the dwarves. Both of them were two really great people to work with.
The final film is amazing and feels very original, it was a fantastic experience. Go and see it.
It looks like a challenging project but was it fun to work with all those actors playing the dwarves?
You know it was fun, it’s not every day you get to do such a great project with a big variety of characters. The dwarf-actors were great, it’s good to see them morphing into their characters with all their hair and make-up. Each has their own characteristics; which made them all so individual. I do have to say they all had good and bad days, as transforming them into a dwarf in the morning was a very long process.
You also run Bluebird FX, was any used on Snow White and the Huntsman?
I’m the distributor of Bluebird FX here in the UK.
The leading actress (Kirsten Stewart) used 2 of the concentrate colours that were mixed together and used for dirt on her. This gave a broken-down look when it was needed and it was also used under her nails to give them a grimy look.
The character palettes were used on various actors – it does exactly what the name says, it was very effective. I used the adhesive glue on the wigs and on Sam Claflin's hair piece (right). Which is brilliant as its matte and very strong.
